Two qualities (among others) have dogged me my entire life. First, I’m a world class procrastinator. Second, I’m prone to endless tweaking, thinking something can always be made just a little bit better. And that one-two combo can keep me on the ropes for very long stretches of time. Frankly, it’s why I took on the 52 in 52 challenge. I needed the deadlines.
So here I am more than a year since my last blog entry. Forgive the radio silence. Going forward, I will try to not let ‘just a little bit better’ get in the way of my keeping in touch, releasing new music, posting videos, etc. I will try to remember, this musical thing is as much about the journey as it is about any sort of destination. The photo above, taken on a run earlier this year, is my little visual reminder. And with that, let me catch you up on where the journey has led me this past year.
Last summer brought the release of my EP September. I had a lot of fun reinterpreting and rerecording a few of the 52 in 52 tracks with Greg LaFollette, a super talented musician and producer based in Nashville. The album is available on iTunes as well as my Bandcamp site.
Since then, it’s been a lot of songwriting, another trip to Nashville, some co-writing, recording a few video ‘selfies’ for the website and most of the time, just being a busy husband and father to a young and growing family. As I’m sure is the case with many of you, there just aren’t enough hours in the day. And so things like email newsletters and blog entries get pushed aside time and again for the more pressing concerns. Oh well, c’est la vie.
Before I end, I do want to let you know about a songwriter showcase I was asked to participate in on September 3rd at the Outer Space in Hamden, CT. I’ll be one of four songwriters playing sets that night. I don’t do a lot of live performing, so I’m really excited be a part of it. The details are here.
That’s it for now. As always, thank you for your support. It means so much to know that people are listening to and connecting with my music.
